
Vidal Wines is one of New Zealand's oldest wineries. It was established by Spanish immigrants in 1905 and has achieved an enviable reputation for producing high quality wine across a range of varieties, but especially Cabernet Sauvignon. Vidal Wines owned by Villa Maria. Winemaker Rod McDonald has achieved considerable wine show success for Vidal Wines. Top of the line wines are designated ‘Soler’ or ‘Reserve’. Vidal Estate Soler Syrah 2002 scooped two trophies at the 2003 Air New Zealand Wine Awards –one for champion Syrah and a second for Reserve Wine of the Show. Vidal’s 1998 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot was judged by Cuisine magazine to be one of New Zealand's very best red wines.
Vidal wines are available throughout New Zealand, direct from the winery and by internet and exported to countries including the United Kingdom, Canada, throughout the Pacific, Singapore and Hong Kong.
