Blackenbrook is a family vineyard located in Tasman, Nelson. Their 20 hectare block produces 8 wine varietals, many of which have won awards. The vineyard and gravity-fed winery are 100% sustainable. All grapes are hand-picked and gently pressed.
The 8 grape varieties of the Blackenbrook Family Vineyard prosper in the balanced maritime climate and the Moutere clay soil on the 20 hectare block halfway between Nelson and the Abel Tasman. In August 2010 Blackenbrook Vineyard was thrilled to be the first vineyard in the South Island to produce Muscat wine.
Daniel and Ursula Schwarzenbach are proudly hands-on, nurturing the grapes from the soil to the bottle in their sustainable vineyard and gravity-fed winery. They have an emphasis on vegan wines, ensuring no animal products are used in the fining process of their white wines.
This is a small winemaker with a big vision. The Blackenbrook family has a genuine determination to improve the style in each vintage but inspite of all the awards, they prefer to let you judge for yourself, without the hype.
“Let our wines speak for themselves.”
Best Regards
Ursula Schwarzenbach
