Since being established in 1988, Grove Mill has been committed to making premium quality wines with minimal environmental impact. Their vineyards and winery are certified by Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand.
In 2010, Grove Mill was awarded the New Zealand Government’s Green Ribbon Award for outstanding contribution to protecting the environment, in the category for ‘Small Businesses Making a Difference’.
Grove Mill became the world’s first carbon neutral certified winery in 2006, in recognition of offsetting their unavoidable CO2 emissions and have continued to receive this certification each year since.
Fourteen hectares of Grove Mill’s vineyards (adjacent to the Cellar Door) are managed under the BioGro organic regime, utilising only biological methods to manage pests and disease.
Beside the winery and cellar door, an award winning wetland has been established, which serves as the refuge to Grove Mill’s golden mascot, the Southern Bell frog and other wetland inhabitants.
Grove Mill’s range includes Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir and Dessert wine.
Grove Mill Cellar Door features a friendly welcoming team, art gallery, aroma demonstration, vine library, petanque, native gardens and a picnic area next to the wetland. Cheese platters are available during the summer months.
Grove Mill passionately embraces sustainable practices whilst crafting the finest possible wines. Their mascot, the Southern Bell Frog, symbolises their commitment to environmental sustainability. As pioneers of carbon neutral wines and winner of eco awards Grove Mill promise that by choosing their wines you too are helping to protect the environment for future generations to enjoy.
