Herzog is a family owned New Zealand winery and restaurant. Hans and Therese Herzog moved to New Zealand from Switzerland in search of the perfect spot to produce fine wines. They found it in Marlborough. The Herzog vineyard is low yielding and close planted. It is hand tended and not touched by fungicides, pesticides or chemical fertilisers. The results are very good. Herzog makes superb Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines, and surprises with a very good Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon wine, a variety not normally associated with the cooler Marlborough climate.
