Nautilus Estate has been producing wine since 1985 and has developed a solid reputation for producing top quality wines. Previously best known for its sparkling wine, in 2000, Nautilus built a winery solely dedicated to producing pinot noir - the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. In 2006 Nautilus opened a complementary white winery, bringing all its wine production under the control of winemaker Clive Jones. Nautilus Estate welcomes visitors daily in summer from 10am - 5pm and in winter from 10.30am - 4.30pm. The Estate's imposing winery was inspired by traditional 'Kentucky barn' architecture and provides a stable temperature environment for wine processing and storage. The cellar door area makes extensive use of the natural curves found in the shape of the Nautilus shell and incorporates an underground cellar for storage of library wines in optimum storage conditions. Nautilus wines are widely available throughout New Zealand and exported to over thirty countries including those in North America, Asia and Japan, Europe, Australia and the United Kingdom.
