Established in 1990, Okahu Estate was the pioneer of the renaissance in wine making in the Far North of New Zealand. Their 1994 Kaz Shiraz (Syrah) was the first ever New Zealand Syrah to be awarded a gold medal at the 1996 Royal Easter Show. Okahu has continued to build a solid reputation for high quality boutique wines, including Chardonnay, Pinotage, Syrah and Chambourcin – making it Northland’s most awarded winery.
The cellar door is open for free tastings from 10.00am to 5.00pm, 7 days a week over summer and weekdays between March and November.
Okahu’s Vineyard cottage is also avilable for rent. It sleeps 6 and has 2 double and 1 twin bedrooms and is an ideal base for a Far North holiday.
