
Palliser Estate is one of the largest producers of wine in the Wairarapa region, and one of the best. Wines are affordable, and branded according to quality. Cheaper drink now wines are labelled under the ‘Pencarrow’ brand with the ‘Palliser’ brand reserved for the best. Wines of particular note are the Palliser Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. Indeed, the quality of the winery's Chardonnay seems to increase in each year with it now ranked amongst a handful of New Zealand’s very best Chardonnay's. Similarly its Sauvignon Blanc is regarded by many as one of the best to be made outside of Marlborough. Gold at the London International Wine Challenge and the trophy for Sauvignon Blanc are among Palliser's most prestigious awards to date. Palliser Estate wines are offered on a number of top international airlines and are found on the wine list of some of the most prestigious restaurants around the world and locally such as Wharekauhau Country Estate, recently ranked in the top ten small resorts in the world. Palliser Estate takes pride in working to sound environmental practices. In 1995, Palliser Estate was the first winery in New Zealand to achieve ISO 9002 certification. In 1998, Palliser Estate, along with Martinborough Vineyard, C.J. Pask Winery and Vidal Estate, were the first in the world to be certified to International Environmental Standard ISO 14001. Palliser Estate wines are widely available from most wine shops or direct from the winery.
