Revington Vineyard produces top quality Chardonnay, albeit in very limited quantities and not every year. Revington Vineyard began in 1987 when Ross Revington and his wife Mary-Jane bought a 4.49 hectare vineyard in the Ormond Valley, 20 kilometres from Gisborne. The vineyard is planted solely in chardonnay (3.24 ha) and gewürztraminer (0.81 ha). Winemaker Dave Pearce uses all new French barriques for the Chardonnay, plus lengthy lees ageing, and for the Gewurztraminer he uses traditional (i.e. French) methods to produce a full flavoured dry style. The quality of Revington wines has been recognised with considerable show success, including gold medals for 1998 and 1989 Chardonnays at the 1990 Easter Show and Air New Zealand Wine Awards respectively. The 1989 was Champion Chardonnay of the show. The 1994 and 1997 Chardonnays won gold medals at the 1995 and 1998 Romeo Bragatto Wine Competitions, and the 1994 Revington Vineyard Gewurztraminer was a gold medal and trophy winner at the 1995 Royal Easter Show.
