Sacred Hill is a beautiful winery to visit. It is located in the low-lying hills to the west of Napier - about 20 minutes by car. It is perfect for a picnic on a warm summer’s day. Owned by the Mason family, Sacred Hill was born in the mid 1980s after more than a century of pastoral farming in the area. Pasture made way for grapevines; winery buildings replaced farm sheds; conversations about grape varieties replaced talk of livestock. The winery produces a range of wines, including both affordable drink now varieties, and more expensive specialist wines. Wines of note include the highly acclaimed and award winning Rifleman's Chardonnay. For something different, you might like to sample Sacred Hill's Bordeaux style Sauvage Sauvignon Blanc or its luscious Halo Botrytis Semillon.
