Seresin Estate

Seresin Estate is one of the region's newer wineries, and one of its classiest. It was established in 1992 by Michael Seresin, a New Zealand born film-maker based in London, and its wines are made by Brian Bicknell. Seresin Estate’s first vintage was produced in 1996. All of Seresin Estate's wines are made from grapes grown on its own 50 hectare Wairau Valley vineyard. Main varieties include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Pinot Noir. Wine writer Bob Campbell MW, writing in Cuisine Magazine, described Seresin Estate's Reserve Chardonnay as "a symphony of subtle hazelnut, butter scotch, spicy oak and tight citrus flavours". The winery has a strong association with food. Each February, to coincide with the Wine Marlborough Festival, Seresin Estate invites a chef of international standing to host a series of dinners at Seresin’s boatshed restaurant, located in Waterfall Bay in the Marlborough Sounds. Chefs have included Peter Doyle from 'Est' restaurant in Sydney, Geoff Lindsay from Pearl restaurant in Melbourne and Peter Gordon and the Providers. Seresin Estate wines are available direct from the winery, by internet, from good wine stores, and are exported to countries including the United Kingdom, Denmark, Switzerland, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Canada and the USA.
