Toi Toi, (pronounced Toy Toy), is a graceful native New Zealand grass. There are four Toi Toi species which have naturally adapted to New Zealand’s awe inspiring and diverse sub-regional climates.
Toi Toi’s natural adaptability and majesty has provided inspiration for our winemaking philosophy: To create quality, distinctive New Zealand wines by sourcing premium varietals from the regions in which they are most renowned, such as our Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Central Otago Pinot Noir.
The spiritual home of Toi Toi Wines is Brookdale vineyard. It is a 28 hectare vineyard at the head of Brookby Road, in the Omaka Valley, Marlborough. Brookdale has a tremendous pedigree with the neighboring vineyards being Seresin, Cloudy Bay, Nobilos and Omaka Springs estate. Situated in a beautiful narrow valley with its own micro-climate, there are hills on the East, South and West sides and full sun from the North.
In 2007, over 55,000 plants (80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Pinot Gris) were planted on a vertical shoot postioning (VSP) trellis system.
Though the vineyard is not open to the public, if anyone has an interest in visiting please contact us and we will try and accommodate your visit.
