Eric and Sandra Shackleton have built a modern mediterranean/Kiwi style home on 12 acres on a hill near Ahipara in the Far North of New Zealand. It has wonderful views to the north encompassing 90-Mile Beach, Mt. Camel, Puheke and Whatuwhiwhi.
With the native plantings and grapes vines it is a really lovely green spot near the West Coast, and is a haven for Tui, Native Pigeon and we are hoping for Kiwis in the future.
There is a small stream flowing through the property the name of which is Waitapu meaning "Sacred water" hence the name for the vineyard. This stream provides water for a large number of properties and market gardens.
