Spencer Hill Estate is owned by the Spencer Hill Group and produces premium wines under the Spencer Hill, Tasman Bay (www.tasmanbaywine.com), and Mariner (www.marinerwine.com) labels. The Estate was established in 1990 by Philip Jones and Sheryl Jones after deciding to purchase a 73 acre property in the Upper Moutere area in New Zealand's South Island. Vineyards were planted in 1990 and a winery established in 1993. Wines produced include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Viognier, Syrah and Pinot Noir. Kosher wines are also made for the Royal Wine Corporation, and distributed worldwide under the Goose Bay label. Chardonnay styles, in particular have proven very successful for Spencer Hill with several trophies and gold medals as proof including Champion NZ Chardonnay at the Gisborne International Chardonnay Challenge in 2002. Spencer Hill Estate wines are available throughout New Zealand, usually under the Tasman Bay brand, and exported to countries including Australia, the United Kingdom, Denmark, North America, Hong Kong and Japan.
