At Cable Bay our food philosophy is in keeping with our winegrowing philosophy. We are very conscious of our surroundings and seasonality. We have a fantastic kitchen garden and orchard on-site which supplies our chefs with an abundance of fresh herbs, heritage varieties of fruit and vegetables and the odd unusual vegetative gem otherwise impossible to source elsewhere.
Supplementary produce is sourced locally, and we have cultured close relationships with our sustainable, environmentally friendly meat growers and seafood suppliers.
Our talented Head Chef takes inspiration from Waiheke Island’s terroir, the interplay with our amazing wines, Auckland’s flourishing food culture, and his team of worldly chefs from Europe, U.S.A., Asia and South America to create food that is all about balance, and that is distinctly New Zealand.

Casita Miro has been winner or runner up for the last three years in the ‘Best Rural Restaurant’ category of Metro Magazine’s Top 50 Auckland Restaurants. Our new covered dining area, Le Cote de la Colline, is now open for business! Adjacent to our new open kitchen, this area has the flexibility to work rain or shine. On a calm day, fully open with perfect shade and gentle breezes. On a windy or rainy day we pull the transparent side covers down so you can still enjoy the views without having to suffer the elements.
Poderi Crisci brings traditional Italian food to Waiheke Island. With its spectacular setting, North West facing restaurant captures the final rays of the setting sun, serving “Italian classics” accompanied by the estate wines from our exciting wine menu, and providing a warm and friendly service.
Italian food is only good if it is made fresh, we take pride every day in using only the freshest ingredients, with produce sourced from our potager gardens. The unique aspect of the Italian-styled Poderi Crisci Gardens is their stunning design. With large raised rectangular beds surrounding geometrical grass centre pieces and adorned with Cypress trees, clipped boxed hedging and lavender, this herb and vegetable potager has been created to endure.
The main purpose of the garden is to supply produce to the Poderi Crisci Restaurant .We understand the importance of providing quality.
The other reason for the garden is to share this process of growing food with our children and to provide fresh produce for our family and friends. Complementing the cuisine are carefully selected fruits of the vine, with a celebrated wine list featuring wines from the estate.

Our vineyard restaurant is located on the top level of our winery and features fresh New Zealand/Pacific Rim cuisine and one of the finest wine lists in New Zealand. The restaurant, which seats sixty, has spectacular views of Waiheke Island, Rangitoto and the Auckland Isthmus and includes a wine bar/tasting room facility. Our cafe specialises in delicious platters, gourmet pizzas & burgers, flatbreads and salads. We are proud to use fresh local ingredients where possible including local Te Matuku Bay Oysters and Ringawera breads and lavosh. All our pizza bases and burgers are made fresh daily and our burger buns and breads are made fresh locally. We offer a gluten free option for all our pizzas and burgers.
