Pask Vineyards

Pask's 59 hectares of vineyards are located on Gimblett Road where Pask was first to plant in the region now known as the Gimblett Gravels Winegrowing District®. Formed over 100 years ago when the Ngaruroro River changed its course, the light, stony soils of the region are low in nutrients, completely free draining, and create the perfect environment for growing premium quality grapes.

Daytime temperatures in our vineyards can be up to 3°C warmer during the day in summer and autumn compared with most other areas in Hawke's Bay, while thermal conductivity in the stones contributes to warmer evenings. With the vineyard sheltered from the prevailing winds by the landmark Roy's Hill, hot daytime temperatures coupled with the warming effects of the stony soil produce grapes of intense flavour.

Our History

Pask is a leading New Zealand winemaker and one of the most established in Hawke's Bay. Hawke's Bay in the North Island of New Zealand has 2320 annual sunshine hours, moderate rainfall, and alluvial river bed soils. It is the perfect location for creating wines of exceptional quality.

Formed over 100 years ago when the Ngaruroro River changed its course, the light, stony soils of the region now known as the Gimblett Gravels are low in nutrients and completely free draining.

From his perfect vantage point, local topdressing pilot Chris Pask believed the area would produce excellent grapes. He was right and was first to plant vines at Gimblett Road in 1981.

Our very first vintage of 1985 Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded 5 stars in Cuisine Magazine. Since then Pask wines have consistently enjoyed gold medal and trophy success in London, Australia, Asia, the United States, Canada and New Zealand across a range of varietals and wine styles.

Today the Pask vineyard estate has expanded and to 90 hectares sheltered by local landmark Roy's Hill. Pask has earned an international reputation for its consistently excellent wine.

We are driven by a simple vision: to produce the finest wines from Hawke's Bay.
