Black Barn Bistro is the perfect place to spend an hour or two at absorbing the atmosphere of Wine Country. It is in the heart of the vineyard surrounded by vines and a table on the large generous veranda lets you look right out across the region. In warmer weather a courtyard covered by a canopy of grapes is also a perfect place to enjoy lunch and a glass of wine. The lunch menu is light, fresh and delicious. There is an emphasis on freshly grown Hawkes Bay produce, the selection changes with the seasons.
While the Bistro presents a beautifully casual atmosphere for lunch, every Friday evening it is transformed for an intimate dinner experience. Twilight and evening landscapes out across the region provide a stunning backdrop for any occasion. During summer months the fairy lit courtyard is also the perfect location for dinner.
Peter Robertson says wine should always enhance the food with which it’s served. For visitors, a glass of Brookfields wine with lunch or dinner at the winery is an experience not to be missed! The pairing of fine cuisine using only the finest Hawke’s Bay produce, and a quality Brookfield wine, is exemplary.
Brookfields Winery is an impressive venue during the day with its beautiful rose gardens, views of the vineyard, hand-made brick winery, tasting room and the pétanque court. With evening functions you will be surrounded by barrels of wine maturing in the racks, forming a unique atmosphere and experience. Centre stage is the inglenook fireplace which provides welcome warmth in the winter months and a unique ambience.
For private functions, from corporate and promotional events to weddings or intimate gatherings, a function at Brookfields is a celebration, an experience!
Brookfields Vineyards is now a ‘Function Venue’ and does not provide casual lunches.

We have long private tables amongst the grapevines for groups, canopy shaded tables in the courtyard, and a casual drinks area with ocean views near the children’s playground: a place for you all! For cooler weather we have a log fired stove in our restaurant and also our gas heated enclosed pavilion area, perfect for mid-winter Christmas lunch celebrations!

To many people Terroir is an elusive and romantic French term, frequently used to describe the inherent characters of soil, climate and culture, as reflected in a wine or the food from a particular vineyard or region. At Craggy Range the restaurant is called “Terroir” – its name reflecting that its food, the vineyard’s wine and its culture, come together sublimely, in a unique and dramatic setting
Terroir – where your roast chicken is spit-turned in front of you on a roaring wood fire, and the grilled figs were picked one hour before, all served alongside the perfectly matched single vineyard wines of Craggy Range.
