Collaboration Wines – a portfolio of wines from select Hawke’s Bay vineyard sites that truly reflect our region and my experience and appreciation for the world of wine.
Director and winemaker Julianne Broghen has selected sites from some of Hawkes Bay finest winegrowing sub-regions that represent the ultimate varietal expression of the wines. Because of the tiny production of Collaboration wines, all of the vines are tendered by hand (with the help of family and friends) to ensure fruit of the highest quality is produced.
Winemaker - Julianne Brogden (Julz)
In 1997 at the age of 17 I followed my interests in horticulture, Science and the Arts to complete a Bachelor of Wine Science. This was the beginning to a career filled with viticulture, winemaking, travel, cuisine, the arts and most importantly creative passionate people, lifelong friends and my partner.
Winemaking is addictive. It involves physical, dirty, hard labour and long crazy hours but the friends you make from countries all over the world and the many laughs, great food, loud eclectic music and of course fine wine, make it all worthwhile. Various countries, climates, wine styles, different winemaking & viticulture ideas and techniques that I have experienced and continue to, have provided me with the framework and inspiration for creating my own wines.
After working years overseas from my base in California’s Napa Valley, I have returned home to Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Now employed behind the scenes as co-winemaker for a prominent Hawkes Bay producer where I began my career in 1997, I have been slowly working on my own company.
