Sourced from a single vineyard in Hawkes Bay, this is a rich, barrel fermented Chardonnay with the accent on complexity and fruit weight. Ripe stonefruit and citrus aromas combine with hints of toasty oak, leading to a silky and elegant finish. Perfect with seafood or pasta made with rich, cream-based sauces or with roasted chicken. Already enjoyable, this wine will continue to improve over the next 3 to 7 years.
This addition to the Holly reserve range is a luscious wine in a botrytised late harvest style. A first at Matahiwi for winemaker Jane Cooper, using a blend of 69% Sauvignon Blanc and 31% Riesling grapes

The Holly wines are the flagship range for Matahiwi and are named after the owner’s daughter. We are trying to achieve balance with this wine between maintaining the pure Sauvignon fruit vibrancy and building in complex yeast and barrel derived flavours. Lime skin and elderflower aromas along with a mineral, crushed stone note, marry with nutty yeasty characters and a savoury edge. While this wine is ready to drink now, it can be cellared for up to four years. We enjoy this wine with freshly smoked white-fleshed fish served on crostini or try with a leek and pecorino tart.
Subtle fragrances of white and yellow stone fruits with flint and nuttiness from barrel fermentation with natural yeasts. The palate is seamless, elegantly concentrated with texture and drive.
Classic aromas of passionfruit and gooseberry, layered with citrus, honeydew melon and lemongrass. A seamless palate, textural and fruit forward, with a driving mineral acidity and a crisp dry finish. A vibrant example of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
There is an immediate eye appeal which is shining and the floral aromas of orange and white blossom together with honeyed notes and nutty acorns which lead into a clean fresh yet soft complexity. With time in the glass the taste progresses towards a long and rounded mouth texture clipped with cleansing acidity and framed by silken tannins. It is soft and appealing and the mouth flavours have not been altered with any additional fining from animal products so it is an honest expression from our place to your face. Drink between 2017 – 2025.
A haunting wine with bristling delicacy, buoyed by a noted mineral edge. Poached pear and warm croissant give a spiced and sappy appeal. The salinity sings the proximity of the vineyard to its maritime environment.
4 STARS – Michael Cooper’s Buyer’ Guide to New Zealand Wines, 2017
With aromas of fresh lime zest and fragrant gardenias, this wine is taut and vibrant in a way that will show its’ maturity over a very long period of time. Flavours of fine wool and bush honey are enhanced by quince and ripe bouche pear aromas with a tingling aftertaste.
This is a well-balanced wine showing ripe nectarine and summer fruit flavours, with a creamy palate accented by elements of toasty oak on the finish. Whilst this wine can be enjoyed now, it will continue to develop over the next 2 – 3 years. Try it with your favourite poultry dish.
This is a wonderfully luscious wine with aromas of pear and spice on the nose and a tropical richness on the palate which is well balanced and off-dry. Enjoy in its youth or cellar for 2-3 years.
This crisply styled, refreshing wine has a wonderful combination of lime, passionfruit and gooseberry aromas with a hint of minerality – typical stylish Sauvignon Blanc! We love to drink it with seafood and pasta dishes and delicious summer salads. While this wine is ready to drink now, it can also be cellared for up to two years.
Overall the wine demonstrates how Pinot Gris achieves elegance when it is correctly cropped and well handled in the winery. It is carefully sculptured to ensure the natural richness of the grape retains elegance.
While the ‘cool tropical’ signature of Neudorf Sauvignon Blanc is unmistakable, our descriptors (stately, generous, hints of fresh brioche) are not your classic New Zealand Sauvignon indicators. It’s a clue to the surprising vintage of early ripeness but lower potential alcohols.
