Overview
The Settlement Poplars Chardonnay is a refined single-vineyard expression from Marlborough, sourced from the organically certified Poplars Vineyard, first planted in 1992. Composed entirely of Mendoza clone fruit, the site’s free-draining alluvial soils over complex clay, combined with low rainfall and cool nights, produce Chardonnay of exceptional vibrancy, minerality and depth. The 2023 vintage offered ideal ripening conditions, resulting in fruit of clarity, richness and precision.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of ripe stone fruit and citrus are layered with savoury oatmeal and a delicate spice. The palate is textured and rich, balanced by a crisp, crunchy acidity that provides drive and length. Flinty mineral undertones and a creamy finish add further complexity, making this an elegant Chardonnay that drinks beautifully now but will continue to develop with cellaring. Perfect with roast chicken, creamy pasta or grilled seafood.
