Nestled at the northern tip of New Zealand’s South Island, Marlborough is a wine lover’s dream. Easily accessible by air or ferry from Wellington, the region's centrepiece is the charming city of Blenheim, located just 20 minutes from the mesmerising Marlborough Sounds.

Venture further south, over rolling hills, to discover the Awatere Valley and the coastal allure of Kaikoura. Marlborough is New Zealand’s largest wine-producing region, accounting for an impressive two-thirds of the nation’s vineyards. While it is globally acclaimed for its Sauvignon Blanc—hailed as the best in the world—the region also excels in crafting exquisite Chardonnay, aromatic Riesling, and premium Pinot Noir.

Boasting over 20,000 hectares of vineyards, Marlborough thrives thanks to its perfect wine-growing conditions: abundant sunshine, cool nights, low autumn rainfall, and free-draining alluvial soils. Together, these factors create a terroir that consistently produces vibrant, flavourful wines.

Exploring Marlborough’s wineries is a delight, with most located within a short drive from Blenheim. However, with the region’s vineyards rapidly expanding, a minimum two-day visit is recommended to truly appreciate its splendour.
