The Sheild Wines Riesling is a vibrant and expressive white, sourced from the Apple Valley Vineyard overlooking the Waimea Inlet in Nelson. With its long sunshine hours, cool coastal influence and schist-driven soils, the site produces Riesling of purity and finesse. Crafted with precision and balance, this wine combines freshness and energy with a touch of richness, resulting in a style that is both refreshing and versatile.
Tasting Notes
Medium yellow in colour, the bouquet bursts with citrus blossom and lime, layered with subtle notes of creamed honey. On the palate, a juicy core of fruit is lifted by brisk acidity and supported by fine phenolics, leading to a long, stony and mineral finish. Perfect as an aperitif, it pairs beautifully with sticky pork belly, Asian-inspired dishes or can be enjoyed simply as a refreshing companion at lunch or elevenses.
