La Stoppa's Riostoppa is a unique blend that reflects the estate's rich history and commitment to organic practices. This wine is crafted from Merlot and historic Bordeaux varieties, originally labeled Bordeaux and Bordò under Giancarlo Ageno's stewardship. After the estate's purchase by Raffaele Pantaleoni, the wine evolved in both composition and name, with Cabernet Sauvignon removed and the wine renamed Riostoppa, inspired by a stream flowing through the property. The wine showcases the purity of the estate's organic viticulture, with no synthetic treatments, offering a pure, natural expression of the terroir.
Tasting Notes
The Riostoppa is an elegant wine with a deep, dark color. On the nose, it offers complex aromas of black fruit, such as blackcurrants and plums, interspersed with hints of dried herbs, tobacco, and subtle earthy undertones. The palate is full-bodied with rich, ripe fruit, complemented by the depth and structure from its 40-day maceration on skins. The wine is beautifully balanced, with smooth tannins and a velvety mouthfeel. The influence of used French oak barriques provides a delicate touch of spice and toast, which integrates seamlessly with the fruit and earthy notes.
