Overview:
The Scout Wines Pinot Noir is a vibrant and focused expression of Bannockburn, crafted with purity and precision to reflect the distinctive character of the Muirkirk Vineyard. Rooted in classic Central Otago soils of schist, quartz and clay-loam, it is a wine of natural concentration, fine structure and unmistakable sense of place.
Tasting Notes:
Hand-picked Clone 5 fruit was wild fermented with 30 percent whole bunch, gently worked for balance and finesse before spending 30 days on skins. Maturation in French oak barrels, with just 10 percent new, has added subtle depth without overshadowing the vineyard character. The result is a Pinot Noir that is bright and energetic, with layers of cherry, red plum and spice, carried on silky tannins and a long mineral finish. A pure expression of Bannockburn terroir, it is equally rewarding now and with careful cellaring.
