The Thorn-Clarke William Randell Shiraz is a rare and exceptional wine, crafted in honour of a Thorn family ancestor. It is the only single-vineyard Shiraz produced by Thorn-Clarke, sourced from the renowned, older Kabininge Vineyard. Only produced in outstanding years and in very limited quantities—less than 1% of total production—this Shiraz exemplifies the pinnacle of fruit quality and intensity. Aged for 22 months in 100% new French and American oak, it offers remarkable depth and complexity. This wine is built for long-term cellaring, with the potential to evolve beautifully over the next 15 years.
Tasting Notes
The William Randell Shiraz presents a deep, inky black colour, setting the stage for an incredibly complex and concentrated profile. The nose is a captivating blend of dark berries, blackcurrant, and subtle notes of spice, oak, and a touch of leather. On the palate, the wine is rich and full-bodied, with layers of intense dark fruit flavours, seamlessly integrated with the oak to provide depth and structure. Silky tannins support the wine’s concentrated core, creating a smooth, velvety mouthfeel. The finish is long and persistent, leaving a lasting impression of elegance and power.
