Wirra Wirra Church Block Cabernet Shiraz Merlot is a wine with a rich history, originating in 1972 when the late Greg Trott produced it as the first wine under the Wirra Wirra label. The name comes from one of the original vineyards next to a historic church, established in 1854. Over the years, Church Block has become a beloved wine in both Australia and New Zealand. A classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Merlot from the McLaren Vale region, it offers a balance of intense fruit and refined structure.
Tasting Notes
Church Block boasts a succulent core of ripe cassis and black fruits, which fill the palate with richness. The fruit is beautifully balanced by subtle spicy oak characters and velvety tannins. This wine showcases a wonderful harmony of intense flavors, fine tannins, and a refreshing acid structure, making it both approachable upon release and age-worthy for up to 8+ years from vintage.
