Overview:
An ode to tradition, the Bogle Heritage Red honours the first red varietal planted by the Bogle family in 1968. This elegant yet robust Californian blend is a masterfully composed tribute to the family's winemaking legacy. Anchored by Petite Sirah and enriched with Zinfandel, Teroldego, and a touch of Syrah, this wine offers a compelling interplay of depth, structure, and vibrant fruit expression.
Each varietal is vinified separately to capture its unique character, before being harmoniously blended and matured for 27 months in American oak barrels. The result is a wine of striking complexity and charm, imbued with warm spice, mocha nuances, and a captivating balance between power and finesse.
Tasting Notes:
Radiant deep ruby in colour, this wine opens with seductive aromas of blackberry compote, cherry cobbler, and a whisper of juniper and capsicum—a nod to the spirited Zinfandel in the blend.
On the palate, layers of Marionberry jam, ripe plum, and white pepper unfold with graceful intensity. The Petite Sirah brings inky concentration and firm tannins, forming a rich backbone. Zinfandel lifts the profile with juicy red fruits and spice, while Teroldego and Syrah lend further dimension with hints of smoky intrigue, dark fruit, and refreshing acidity. The extended oak ageing weaves in notes of toasted spice and a delicate touch of mocha, culminating in a beautifully structured finish.
