Overview
A jewel of the Margaux appellation, Château Brane-Cantenac is a Grand Cru Classé estate steeped in legacy and elegance. Once known as “Hostein” in the 18th century, this historic vineyard continues to produce wines of distinction under the guidance of Henri Lurton, who masterfully unites ancestral savoir-faire with modern precision. The estate’s prime location atop the Brane plateau, where clay-rich gravel soils meet old vines, yields wines with remarkable finesse, aromatic depth, and a refined structure that speaks to its noble terroir.
Tasting Notes
Composed predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon (74%) and balanced by Merlot (22%) with touches of Cabernet Franc, Carménère and Petit Verdot, the 2021 vintage is a pure expression of Margaux elegance. Expect a bouquet of cassis, violets, and subtle cedar, unfolding into a palate of silky tannins, layered dark fruit, and hints of tobacco leaf and graphite. There is precision here—lifted acidity, restrained power, and a long, mineral-driven finish. A classic Margaux with poise and pedigree, destined to evolve beautifully over time.
