Overview
Quinta do Crasto Superior Red DOC is a distinguished expression of the Douro Valley’s storied terroir, crafted from vineyards set along schist-terraced slopes that reach heights of nearly 600 metres. The estate’s name, rooted in the Latin castrum meaning Roman fort, echoes its ancient heritage and commanding position above the Douro River. Produced with meticulous care—grape selection by hand, stainless steel fermentation, and 12 months of ageing in French oak—this wine embodies both the vibrancy of the region and the finesse of modern winemaking.
Tasting Notes
Bright purple in hue, the nose reveals a vivid bouquet of wild berries, lifted by subtle spice. On the palate, it is balanced and energetic, offering depth and structure with velvety tannins. Flavours of cherries and sour red plums meet dark and milk chocolate nuances, leading into a lingering, peppery finish. This vintage is notably vibrant and expressive—ideal with creamy pasta or pizza, and equally suited for short-term cellaring. Serve at 16–18°C to appreciate its full character.
